The government of India has officially communicated the arrival of the new GST taxation slabs in the country, and this does not make for a good watching for cricket fans.
According to the latest reports pertaining to the new GST taxation slabs that are coming to affect very soon, the IPL tickets will henceforth coming under 40% tax lab.
This is a significant upgrade from the previous 28% tax slab on IPL tickets, and this would essentially mean that the prices for the next season will be marginally higher than the previous ones.
A ticket that usually costs 1280 will now command the new slab and end up costing 1400. There will be a marginal 12% increase in the ticket prices for the upcoming season.
While there are already complaints about the increasing ticket prices in the IPL, the new GST taxation policy is not going to help the cost one bit. The additional prices could perhaps have a small impact on the stadium-going economy.
But considering the massive craze for the IPL in India, this additional prices might not affect the actual ticket sales too much.
