The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formally requested the Asia Cup organisers to postpone the UAE vs Pakistan match by an hour, hoping to arrive at a positive outcome from the ongoing discussions.
As of now, the Pakistan team has left the hotel and is on its way to the ground, but there remains uncertainty regarding the final schedule of the game.
The situation comes in the backdrop of rising tensions following the India–Pakistan clash, which ended in a comprehensive defeat for Pakistan and stirred controversy over the post-match handshake.
The PCB had earlier expressed dissatisfaction with match referee Andy Pycroft for not addressing the incident, though the ICC refused to take any action.
This series of events has heightened frustration within the PCB, and their request to delay today’s fixture indicates that crucial decisions may still be on the table.
Further developments are awaited, and clarity on Pakistan’s participation in the rest of the Asia Cup is expected soon.
