The government of India has taken a very strong stand against online betting and endorsement activities after having recently imposed a new regulation that bans online gaming(money oriented) in the country.
Now, the Enforcement Directorate has been called to action against former Indian cricketers, Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina, who had allegedly endorsed illegal betting applications.
ED, Headquarters office has provisionally attached movable and immovable assets valued at Rs. 11.14 Crore belonging to former Indian Cricketers Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan under PMLA, 2002 in connection with endorsement of illegal betting platform 1xBet.
The attachment includes mutual fund investments worth Rs. 6.64 Crore held in the name of Suresh Raina and an immovable property valued at Rs. 4.5 Crore held in the name of Shikhar Dhawan.
These two veteran Indian cricketers, who are significantly famous in the sporting community have come under the ED radar under prevention of money laundering act in connection with endorsement of betting app, 1XBet.
