For over a decade now, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been instrumental players in the Indian cricket team across all formats. But they have opted out of the test in T20 format recently and are focusing on the ODI format as they plan to win the World Cup for India in 2027.
Coming to the topic, now, the AGM meeting held by the BCCI is likely to happen very soon and several crucial matters, including the final call and continuing Rohit and Kohli is likely to be taken here. Along with that, the salaries of the existing squared in the men’s and women’s format is also going to be discussed.
The most interesting bit of information that has popped up from national Media circle is that Rohit and Kohli are likely to be excluded from the A+ contract and get demoted to the A contract. This is perhaps a result of the age factor of these two legendary players.
If that really happens, then Rohit and Kohli will have to undergo a salary cut-of ₹2 crore. With the current A+ contract that they have both these players are receiving ₹7 crore annually. If they get remote to A Contract, their salary will go down to ₹5 crore respectively.
Well, this might not be too much of a financial disturbance for these two financially settled players, the fact that their contract got demoted might be a bit of a personal issue. So it has to be seen if the BCCI would actually take this decision considering that both Kohli and Rohit have been in elite form for India in ODI format.
On the other hand, it is being reported that Shubman Gill, who has been largely inconsistent is likely to get promoted to A+ contract which has also sparked a debate on social media.
