One of the main problems with the Indian cricket team in the recent past is that they have been largely inconsistent across all formats. The performances in the test matches have been pathetic, and it appears that this trend is lurking in T20 format as well.
After having comprehensively beaten South Africa in the first T20 game, India was absolutely clueless with the bat in the second game as they lost it by a margin of 50 runs.
Talented young Telugu cricketer, Tilak Varma was absolutely brilliant with the bat as he was the top scorer with 62. However, he found no support from the rest of the batting lineup as top order batsmen Surya Kumar Yadav and Shubman Gill did not contribute in the chase.
When the target is 215 runs from 20 overs, the top order is expected to be on the top of the game, but that is not even remotely the case today as India lost too many wickets at the top. Even the hero of last game, Hardik Pandya could not put up a good performance as he scored 20 from 23 and got out in a bad manner.
Due to some pathetic batting from India in the second half of the game, South Africa could fully gain control, and they made the most of it.
India is still struggling to find consistency across formats, and this is not a good sign, especially considering that the team is transitioning from the likes of Rohit and Kohli to a generation of youngsters. More consolidated and consistent results are expected from a champion team like India.
