IPL Auction : Cameron Creates History, Uncapped Players Strike Big

The IPL 2026 mini auction is underway at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Total 369 players came under the hammer to fill in 77 slots between ten franchises. 244 Indians and 115 overseas players are up for grabs. While Cameron Green made headlines with a record breaking price, several uncapped players struck gold in this auction.

Australian dashing allrounder Cameron Green created history by becoming the most expensive overseas player with a staggering bid of 25.20 Crores and also the third most expensive player in the history of IPL. He was bought by three time champion Kolkata Knight Riders. He was joined by Srilanka pacer Matheesh Pathirana who was also acquired by KKR for a whopping 18 Crores.

Keeping aside these big buys, three uncapped names that have hogged the limelight in this auction are Auqib Nabi, Kartik Sharma, and Prashant Veer. Nabi, who hails from Jammu and Kashmir, was snapped by Delhi Capitals for Rs 8.40 crore, while both Prashant and Kartik were purchased by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 14.20 crore each, which is quite sensational and unprecedented in the league’s history.

The shocking bid came in the form of Venkatesh Iyer who saw a huge slump in his auction price compared to last year’s 23.75 Crores bid when he was bagged by RCB for just 7 Crores. Other top buys include Bangladesh wily bowler Mustafizur Rehman who was grabbed by KKR for 9.20 Crores and West Indies allrounder Jason Holder for 7 Crores by Gujarat Titans.

Among Indian players, notable buys include Ravi Bishnoi who was retained by Rajasthan Royals for 7.4 Crores and Mangesh Yadav for 5.2 Crores by RCB. Players like Prithvi Shah, Manan Vohra, Kamalesh Nagarkoti, Murugan Ashwin, who previously shined in the league, were unsold as franchises didn’t show any interest to bid for them.

Sunrisers Hyderabad shelled out more than half of their purse in the last leg of auction for England allrounder Liam Livingston who was purchased for 13 Crores. They also signed happening bowler Shiva Mavi for 75 lakhs. Australian player Joshi Inglis fetched 8.60 Crores as LSG snaffled him to fill the batsman slot with a back up wicket keeping option.

Chennai Super Kings gobbled Rahul Charar for 5.20 Crores and New Zealand bowler Matt Henry for 2 Crores. Sarfaraz Khan will don yellow jersey as he was snatched for a base price of 75 lakhs.
