The Indian team management has announced the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, and this has a pretty significant surprise associated with it.
In what could be considered an unexpected decision, Shubman Gill has been left out of the squad for the upcoming World Cup. Chief selector, Ajit Agarkar pointed out that Gill has been a little shot of runs in the recent past, and this was a tough decision to make to leave Gill out.
Another main exclusion from the team is that of Jitesh Sharma, who was reasonably alright with the bat whenever he was given the opportunity. Lack of consistency and big scores have costed him a place in the team now.
Two interesting inclusions came in the form of Ishaan Kishan and Rinku Singh, as both of them have been very effective with the bat given the opportunity.
As opposite to the earlier speculation, Suryakumar Yadav has not been removed as the captain. He will be the one leading the Indian T20 team in the upcoming World Cup. This is a strong and consolidated decision taken by the BCCI.
Meanwhile, the stage is set for the start of the upcoming T20 World Cup from February 6 and India will be facing United States in their first game, which is scheduled for February 7.
