The T20 World Cup is going to start in a couple of days from now, and it is already turning out to be one of the most controversial and sensational ICC tournaments. Bangladesh has already been kicked out of the tournament for refusing to play in India and Pakistan is also making a similar argument.
Pakistan has communicated to the ICC in principle that they would not be playing the game against India on February 15 and this is leading to consequences.
Apparently, the ICC is contemplating the idea of withholding the entire pay package for Pakistan for this tournament if they decide to abort the game against India. This is largely a financial decision, considering the media implications, and Pakistan could be losing heavily in the larger scheme of things.
It is established that Pakistan is likely to be paid in the range of $35 million if they participate in the T20 World Cup. But if they refuse the game against India, a significant portion of the media rights will have to be forgone.
This could ignite the ICC to withhold the revenues for Pakistan and settled the Media disputes. This would end up, resulting in Pakistan losing out on ₹300 crore revenue from the tournament.
