It has become a common tradition for India and Pakistan to be in the same group during the ICC tournaments. But this is understandable, considering the revenue that this game generates and also the public interest on the same.
On that note, India faced Pakistan in the earlier group stage game in the ongoing T20 World Cup as well. But the chances of these two rival teams facing at a later point in the tournament look very bleak at this point.
On one hand, India faced a significant defeat against South Africa and find themselves in a tricky position where they have to win both the games in the super 8 stage just to stay in contention.
On the other hand, even Pakistan is struggling very badly as this team had already lost 2 games in the super 8 stages. The chances of Pakistan progressing through to the next stage is very minimal at this point.
This would essentially mean that both Pakistan and India find themselves in a very problematic situation in the T20 World Cup knockout stage. This would also categorically reduce the chances of the two teams facing again each other in the tournament.
It looks like we have to settle for a single India versus Pakistan game in this T20 World Cup and that is about it.
