The Indian cricket team made the nation proud by winning the T20 World Cup a couple of days ago, and they are being flooded with financial resources since then. The ICC has already disbursed Rs 27 crore in prize money, and now, the BCCI has made a significant announcement.
According to the latest reports, the BCCI has granted ₹131 crore prize money to the Indian players for winning the T20 World Cup and thus is a pretty significant number.
Considering the fact that the BCCI is the richest Cricket board in the world, this pretty lucrative grant to the Indian players isn’t too big of a deal in terms of financial impact.
This massive prize money will be distributed equally amongst the players and also the coaching staff and the individual allocations are likely to be determined later on.
In total, the Indian cricket team has already received ₹160 crore in prize money for winning the T20 World Cup. There is also a small chance that the state governments could issue additional perks to their domestic players in the next few days.
But at the same time, there’s an opposite talk against this as well. People are commenting that it would’ve been better if the BCCI spent this money on enhancing domestic cricket.
“Total waste of money, these cricketers are already millionaires and don’t need all that. Better to inject this money at the grassroots level with proper transparency, and also improve stadium infrastructure for cricketers as well as spectators. That would be far better than this.” A social media user commented.
However, it shouldn’t be ignored that the Indian players reached this milestone by overcoming huge struggles, and they truly deserve it, says a cricket analyst.
