For the last couple of season, Sunrisers Hyderabad has been one of the most dominant and aggressive teams in the IPL in terms of batting style and scoring capabilities.
The introduction of Australian cricketer, Pat Cummins, as the captain of SRH has worked miraculously well for the team. This is evident in the fact that the team has been scoring absolutely sensational scores like 250, 270 and even 280.
It is evident that Cummins had created completely new brand of Cricket, not just for SRH, but also for IPL under his captaincy. However, Hyderabad is facing a significant challenge in the form of the absence of Cummins for the early stages of the season.
Due to an injury, the Australian player will not be a part of SRH franchise in the first few games and it has been communicated that Ishaan Kishan will be the captain of the team by Abhishek Sharma will be the vice captain.
The crucial challenge for the team is going to be to maintain this aggressive brand of cricket and playing style in the absence of Pat Cummins. It has to be seen how the team would cope without his presence.
But the fundamental point that must be noted, here is that it was the top order and middle order that had scored the grains even during Cummins time as captain.
So as a player, there might not be much of an impact with the absence of Cummins in the team. Maintaining the aggressive mindset, ultimately reward the team with big score, and we have to see if the same would be the case with the 2026 season as well.
