Will IPL 2026 Face Heat from the Oil & Gas Crisis?

The IPL 2026 season is less than hundred hours away from now as the stage is being prepared for the start of this mega cricket tournament that will bring the entire Cricket community globally on one platform.

But this could be one of the most critically placed IPL tournaments in history as the series of events leading to the same, including the global political affairs are completely different.

On one hand, we have the ongoing crisis in the western Asia, where Iran is openly at war with United States and the escalations are happening on a daily basis. The air travel facilities in the Dubai and Abu Dhabi segments which are crucial for international travel are largely constrained as well.

On the other hand, the larger section of the public is focused on the effects of the war, including LPG shortage and petrol supply crisis. These are the main points of discussion amongst the general public rather than entertainment and sports.

We have the Pakistan Premier League, which is going to happen parallelly with the IPL and the Pakistan board has decided not to allow any crowds into the stadiums. Could the IPL also witness a similar restriction if the situation deteriorates? We shall see.

Another point is that the global Cricket audience have also had enough of cricket as the recent T20 World Cup got completed barely three weeks ago and we already have the IPL coming up this week.

But at the heart of it, it must also be noted that IPL is a crucial getaway for the larger section of the population in the country as people tend to indulge in cricketing action for a few hours a day.

So this enjoyment and relishment is returning in a few days which is a positive thing. But the circumstances and situations are largely volatile due to various reasons.
