IPL And Tollywood Struggling For Same Reason!

Cricket and cinema are two of the biggest entertainment industries in India. And as it turns out, both these realms are facing a similar issue with regard to audience participation and reception.

Over the last 2-3 years, there is a clear trend emerging which is indicating that the audience are clearly not interested in mediocre stuff.

When it comes to films, people are least bothered about the star cast and the face value of the actors. It is the Content and the public appeal that are turning out to be the deciding factors when it comes to the financial outcome of any film.

A similar trajectory is being observed in the case of IPL as well now. People are not interested in every game of the tournament and are very selected with regard to viewership.

Only teams like Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru have been able to get early audience reception while other teams are struggling hard to find any kind of digital viewership or social media discourse.

Nearly half of the IPL games, this year have gone unnoticed as people are simply not interested in games, featuring non-mainstream teams as mentioned above. Only half of the games have been interesting enough to gain viewership and they’re the ones that have clicked.

Back in the day, almost all films and IPL games used to have a very close public attention and people used to wait weeks together for their arrival. But now that there is an abundance of choice with regard to films and also cricket matches, the anticipation has gone down considerably.

Be it films or IPL Cricket, both of them need smashing excitement and entertainment to pull the attention of the audience. Or else, they’re certain to go down the drain with very little discussion and patronage from the paying public.
