IPL Final Twist: KSCA Demands 10,000 Tickets for VIPs?

The richest cricket league IPL is never devoid of politics and controversies. Like every year, the ongoing season also sparked numerous controversies from the very beginning due to various reasons. Now, the shifting of IPL final from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad has triggered huge debate as RCB supporters and Karnataka Cricket Association have blamed BCCI for the decision.

Initially, Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium was expected to host one playoff match along with the grand IPL 2026 final, as Royal Challengers Bengaluru emerged as defending champions. However, the BCCI changed the venues of these fixtures in the last minute.

Now, Dharamshala is hosting Qualifier 1 and New Chandigarh will feature the the Eliminator and Qualifier 2, and again Ahmedabad secured the final. As there is considerable criticism aimed over the change of venues and also for repeatedly choosing Ahmedabad for the final fixture, BCCI has now finally opened up over the reasons for this shocking decision.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia alleged that the Karnataka State Cricket Association has demanded nearly 10,000 extra tickets than what is usually permitted according to the official quota. The demand reportedly included tickets for members, affiliated clubs, MLAs, MLCs, and even around 700 complimentary passes for the Karnataka government.

He clarified that IPL protocol allows host associations to receive only 15% of the stadium’s seating capacity as complimentary tickets. But according to him, the board received reports that KSCA was seeking a significantly larger allocation during league matches itself.

Due to this unreasonable demand and other factors, BCCI finally decided to move out the matches from Bengaluru. This is not the first time that the issue of tickets between BCCI and state board led to controversies.

Previously, the Karnataka State assembly passed a resolution to make it mandatory for all MLAs to get two tickets each for RCB games.
