Racism has hit the USA so badly that it made cricketers to open up. West Indies cricketer Darren Sammy has alleged that he was called ‘Kaluu’ (Blackie) during his stint of Indian Premiere League in the year 2014. Sammy took to his Instagram handle and posted a video in which he claimed that SunRisers Hyderabad players used to call him with the word which he had no knowledge of.
“I found out a meaning of a certain word, I had said I was angry on finding out the meaning and it was degrading, instantly I remembered when I played for SunRisers Hyderabad, I was being called exactly the same word which is degrading to us black people,” said Sammy.
“Every time I was called with that word, there was laughter at that moment, I thought teammates are laughing so it must be something funny,” added the two time T20 World Cup winning captain.
Also a picture shared by bowler Ishant Sharma, had the caption ‘Kaluu’ which adds more strength to Sammy’s allegations.
As and when Sammy posted this video, other West Indian cricketers like Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo have supported him.
Looks like it’s a big trouble for those players who called Sammy with racist intentions.
