Hyd Sees Sudden Surge in Covid Cases Overnight

A couple of days ago, we reported that the Telangana state saw a massive drop in cases. However, the Covid-19 cases rose by 45 per cent overnight in Hyderabad and the rest of the GHMC area.

The health department confirmed that 102 new Covid-19 cases were discovered on Thursday in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits. On Wednesday, the department reported 70 new cases in the GHMC area.

This is the first time more than 100 cases were reported in Hyderabad ever since July 4 (107 cases). Currently, the city is back to normalcy with people gathering in large numbers. On this, health experts have expressed their concerns and asked people to avoid being carefree.

If this level of freedom continues, there is a chance of another spurt in cases leading to the third wave of Covid-19 in the state. Unfortunate that the sudden rise comes barely a week before all educational institutions are set to open fully in the state.

Yesterday, two more people died from Covid-19 in the state taking the death toll to 3,864. The total cases are 6,56,098.
