covaxin
The WHO has approved only Covishield to date and despite no approval, a few countries still accept the usage of Sputnik V. People who want to travel abroad are desperately looking forward to Bharat Biotech-manufactured Covid-19 vaccine- Covaxin’s approval by the WHO too. This could make international travel easy for those who took two jabs of Covaxin.
The latest news is, the World Health Organization approval for the emergency use authorization (EUA) to Bharat Biotech-manufactured Covid-19 vaccine- Covaxin is likely to be delayed till October 5. The Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE) will meet on October 5 to grant authorization to Covaxin.
So far, the WHO has approved Covid vaccines developed by Pfizer-BioNTech, US pharma majors Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, China’s Sinopharm and Oxford-AstraZeneca for emergency use.
Covaxin is currently being used in the nationwide inoculation programme, along with Covishield and Sputnik V. The Centre had told Rajya Sabha in July that all documents required for the WHO’s Emergency Use Listing (EUL) have been submitted by Bharat Biotech.
For now, people need to wait a bit longer until the WHO ireviews the data submitted by the vaccine maker and comes up with the confirmation.
