No Quarantine For Fully Vaccinated Indians Travelling To The UK

Ending a row of what was believed as biased imposition, Indians who are fully vaccinated with Covishield or any other UK-approved vaccine will not be quarantined when they arrive in Britain from October 11, the High Commissioner to India said. There have been several oscillations between the Indian and British governments over the acceptance of their respective Covid-19 vaccines for travel.

And today, the Union Ministry of Health is setting fresh guidelines for foreign nationals from the United Kingdom. It is learnt that the Ministry of Health is going to issue a fresh set of guidelines for foreign nationals from the UK after the country ordered to discontinue mandatory testing and quarantine norms for those vaccinated with Covishield travelling from India to the UK.

The statement comes a day after the UK government included India on its list of vaccine-eligible countries for the Covishield jab. The fully vaccinated Indians will no longer have to quarantine upon arrival in Britain starting October 11. And according to the new rule, eligible travelers who have been vaccinated in more than 37 new countries, including India and Pakistan, will be treated the same way as returning UK residents who are fully vaccinated.

The UK has opened up international travel and will recognise India’s vaccine certification system from October 11. Indian passengers who have been fully vaccinated with Covishield or any other UK-approved jab at least 14 days before arrival in Britain can travel without having to quarantine. Also there is no need to undergo a pre-departure test, or take an 8th-day test upon arrival.
