Apple’s WWDC2020: All Big Announcements

Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference 2020 is the first time Apple’s conference happening exclusively online with no in-person event. Today’s event announced major updates to the iPhone, Mac OS, and many more.

iOS14

Apple announced iOS 14, the latest iPhone update that has a new home screen layout which allows us to use the features on an app without launching the full version.

Apple clips – Apple is launching the different shapes and sized widgets for the first time. The new iOS automatically organizes apps based on categories and gives the ease of quick access.

Apple maps just got better with a dedicated map view for cycling, with the news alerts on elevation, stairs, but is first launched with New York City, Los Angeles, San Fransisco, Shanghai, and Beijing maps. The EV drivers will be given alerts about the available charging points on their routes.

The digital car key is one of the major announcements this year. Apple’s digital car key is coming with iOS13 and iOS14. This feature unlocks and starts your car, just for the BMW 5 Series now with a key registered in the Apple wallet. The device holds the keys and can be deleted whenever not needed from the cloud.

iPadOS 14

Apple is bringing on a new sidebar on iPad to easily navigate the apps, particularly for those who replaced laptop with iPad. The search on the iPad is redesigned to look more like a Spotlight on macOS. The scribble feature on Apple will convert the handwriting into text in multiple languages and will direct to the writing to the correct app based on context detection.

Apple updated Airpods to connect them automatically to whichever device that plays audio and it is no longer needed to manually switch between the devices paired.

WatchOS 7

Apple will now let you get and share the new watch faces easily with the face-swapping feature. The watch will also track the dancing in watch OS7. Other new features include sleep tracking and handwashing detection.

tvOS 14

Picture-in-picture is another new feature on the iOS14, that allows swiping away while watching a full-screened video, and the window floats on the home screen and also allows to resize and move the video.

macOS 11

Apple announced its major desktop software update called macOS Big Sur. There is a big change in designs and it is to get more features from iOS14 and iPadOS14, like messaging, widgets and pinned conversations, grouping, and more new Memojis.
