The Nobel Laureate and activist Malala Yousafzai surprised everyone by announcing her marriage to Asser Malik. “Today marks a precious day in my life,” she wrote in a Twitter post. “Asser and I tied the knot to be partners for life. We celebrated a small nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our families,” she announced.
Malala also shared multiple images from the nikkah ceremony where we can see the activist posing with her husband, Asser, and her parents, Ziauddin Yousafzai and Toor Pekai Yousafzai. The 24-year-old Malala wore a pink gown with gold embroidery on her wedding day.
Malala is a Pakistani education activist and the youngest Nobel Peace Prize recipient in history. She became a popular face after she was shot in the head by the Taliban in 2012 for advocating for the fundamental right of girls to an education.
