In a surprising update, thousands of people joined a beggar’s final journey in Karanataka. One Huchcha Basya, a 45-year-old mentally challenged beggar in Hadagali town near Bellary shared a special bond with the people of that town. They believe he brings good luck if you give him alms.
Huchcha Basya was hit by a bus on November 12 and was admitted to a hospital. He could not survive and died on Saturday. His final rites were held on Sunday and thousands of people turned up at the funeral to say goodbye to him. The people from the town even put up banners in many places.
Many expressed their bonding with Basya as they addressed him ‘appaji’ and also revealed he took only Re 1 alms from a person and returned the excess amount. Basya was even known to former Dy CM late MP Prakash and former Minister Parameshwara Naik, as he spoke to them with innocence. Everyone who knows him respected him.
