Omicron cases breach 100 mark; Health Ministry warns!

The Union Health Ministry issued a warning on Omicron variant of Covid-19 and advised people to avoid non-essential travel, mass gatherings and observe low-intensity festivities.

The cases of Omicron variant breached 100 mark in India and is spread across 11 states. Maharashtra is the biggest contributor of Omicron variant cases with 32 while the national capital accounts for 22 cases. Rajasatan has 17 cases while Karnataka and Telangana are the next states with eight cases each.

The health ministry joint secretary said strict vigilance is needed amidst the Omicron scare and urged people to get fully vaccinated at the earliest. Currently India is administering vaccines at the highest rate in the world.

There are also reports on anti-viral Covid-19 pills and the health ministry added that the scientific data is still not supportive to use this pill at the moment and the study is going on. However there was no comment made on the booster dose.
