Satya Nadella, Sundar Pichai To Get Padma Bhushan

The government of India has announced the Padma awards ahead of the Republic Day celebrations. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Google CEO Sundar Pichai are to be conferred with Padma Bhushan and this is for the first time that the government of India has honoured the top executives of tech giants.

India’s first Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat who was killed last year in a helicopter crash will be honoured with Padma Vibhushan (posthumous). But in a big surprise Congress leader Gulab Nabi Azad has been named for Padma Bhushan award.

Covid-19 vaccine makers Krishna Ella, Suchitra Ella (Bharath Biotech), Cyrus Poonawalla – Serum Institute of India MD will also get Padma Bhushan for their outstanding contribution towards the global pandemic.

Olympics Gold medalist Neeraj Chopra and singer Sonu Nigam are named for Padma Shri awards. A total of 128 personalities are included in the Padma awards.
