Indian Students Paying Price For ‘No Vote’ Of Indian Govt

The Indian government has yet again observed an abstaining stand in the UN Security Council vote calling for a rare special emergency session of the UN General Assembly on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. The resolution was adopted with 11 votes in favour while India, China and the UAE abstained.

This comes after Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke to PM Modi during the weekend and asked for India’s help against Putin’s invasion. Yet the Indian government maintained its stand against Ukraine.

This action of the Indian government is showing its serious impact on Indian students stranded on the borders of Ukraine. The students who are trying to cross the borders are being harshly treated by the Ukraine soldiers. Hundreds of student are beaten and tortured by Ukraine soldiers causing an agony.

Visuals of Ukraine soldiers indulging in physical assault are caught on camera and a few students described their ordeal in going through the situation. Female students are let go by Ukraine soldiers are repeated requests while boys are being harassed mercilessly.

Meanwhile PM Modi has called for an emergency meeting with cabinet colleagues and the Indian government is planning to send a few ministers to Poland and Romania where Indian students are struggling to cross the borders.
