An Indian student in Kyiv was shot on Friday. The student had reportedly tried to escape Kyiv and in the process, had to take a bullet. Union Minister VK Singh said that the student was taken back midway into the city and is in hospital. His identity is yet to be known.
“We received information that a student leaving Kyiv was shot. He was taken back into the city. This is happening in the fighting. We’re trying for maximum evacuation in minimum loss,” MoS Civil Aviation Gen (Retd) VK Singh said. A few days ago, the 21-year-old Indian student from Karnataka was shot dead in Ukraine, leaving India grief-stricken.
With the tense moment right now, India tried to evacuate its people with four IAF aircraft bringing back 800 people. Russia had also promised India to get back its citizens to safe borders. Among four Union ministers, General Singh is overseeing the evacuation of Indians from war-hit Ukraine. Hardeep Singh Puri is in Hungary, Jyotiraditya Scindia in Romania, Kiren Rijiju in Slovakia and V K Singh in Poland.
