Engineering colleges in Telangana are heading for a closure for a number of reasons. As per JNTU-Hyderabad Registrar, about sixteen colleges have applied for a shutdown for the current academic year.
Over the last few years, many seats are lying vacant in engineering colleges and this has become a burden for colleges as the government is not increasing the management quota. Also the government is quite late in reimbursing the fee to colleges. All these reasons have pushed many colleges into financial troubles and they had left with no other option rather than apply for closure.
If these colleges get nod for closure, then there would be a reduction of 3800 engineering seats in Telangana. The management of the colleges are planning to convert the colleges into residential hostels or paying guest facilities and stuff.
On the other hand, JNTU-H will be giving away condition affiliation for new colleges this year. But there will be a delay in physical inspection because of the pandemic.
