In another blow to Chinese tech industry, India has on Monday banned another 47 apps. Over 275 Chinese apps are under scrutiny of the union ministry of Telecom for alleged violation of national security and users’ privacy.
Reports came that the Centre would take a call on all the 275 apps but out of nowhere, 47 apps were picked initially and a decision on the remaining would be taken soon. The freshly banned apps include TikTok Lite, Helo Lite, ShareIt Lite, Bigo Lite and VFY Lite.
The Telecom ministry added that the apps were found to be operating despite the ban via lite versions. They have been taken down from both Google and Apple App stores.
But the biggest shocking thing is the Centre is considering to ban the popular game apps like PUBG and Ludo King. If these apps are banned, Indian youth will definitely get upset but then national security comes first.
