In what could have been a major mid-air scare, a Hyderabad bound IndiGo flight from Sharjah made an emergency landing at Pakistan’s Karachi international airport on Sunday morning. All the passengers are reported to be safe following the precautionary landing.
According to the reports, IndiGo flight 6E-1406 was diverted to Karachi after its pilot reported a technical defect in the aircraft mid-air. Apparently, a system fault was detected in the right engine or Engine 2 of the Airbus.
A representative of the low-cost carrier informed the media that an additional flight will be flown to Karachi to fly the passengers back to Hyderabad. This news comes right when IndiGo management is dealing with its protesting pilots who have been demanding a salary hike.
Recently, an IndiGo flight made an emergency landing due to technical issue. On July 14th, an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Baroda was diverted to Jaipur after vibrations were felt in the engines of the aircraft. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has commenced an investigation into both the incidents.
In yet another noticeable coincidence, a SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Dubai was diverted to Karachi international airport due to a malfunctioning fuel indicator light in the cockpit. All the 138 passengers were later flown to Dubai in a special flight that was sent from India.
