Raina Too Bids Adieu To International Cricket

Minutes after former India Captain announced his retirement from international cricket, former international cricketer Suresh Raina too bid adieu to international cricket. Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli paid tribute to both the former international cricketers.

Kohli wished Dhoni on Twitter and wrote a special message for Raina as well.

“Congratulations on a top career Bhavesh. Goodluck with everything ahead,” Kohli tweeted.

“It was nothing but lovely playing with you, @mahi7781 . With my heart full of pride, I choose to join you in this journey. Thank you India. Jai Hind!” Raina wrote on Instagram along with a picture with Dhoni and his Chennai Super Kings teammates Kedar Jadhav, Karan Sharma and Ambati Rayudu.

Raina played 18 Tests, 226 ODIs and 78 T20s for India. In the IPL, he has appeared in 193 matches out of which he played just two seasons for Gujarat Lions when Chennai Super Kings were suspended from the tournament in 2016 and 2017.

Raina made his ODI debut in July 2005 against Sri Lanka at the age of 19. He has a few credits to his name like scoring a hundred on his Test debut. Also, he was a part of the Indian squad that won the 2011 World Cup. He was the first Indian batsman to hit hundreds in all three formats.

Dhoni and Raina are currently in Chennai for a training camp ahead of the IPL latest season. The six-day camp started on Saturday (Aug. 15) and will go on till August 21.

With two cricket stalwarts going off the ground, India cricket fans will miss a lot of action. Surprisingly, both of them chose the Independence Day to announce their retirement from international cricket.
