The sensational Jubillee Hills gang rape case has taken a big twist with the Juvenile Justice Board’s (JJB) decision. After investigating the case for nearly two months, the police filed a chargesheet in the first week of September. Post filing the chargesheet, the Hyderabad police filed one more petition with JJB to treat the minors accused in the gang-rape as adults.
The Juvenile Justice Board was convinced with the arguments of the police considering the gravity of crime and has allowed four of the accused in conflict with law (CCLs) to be tried as adults. However, one of the arrested in this case is son of MIM MLA and he will be tried as juvenile because was not accused of the rape and he got off the car in between in which the 17 year old girl was raped.
On May 28th, six people forcefully picked up the girl from a pub in Jubilee Hills and gang raped her. The Jubilee Hills police registered a case only on May 31st after the rape incident hit the headlines and turned viral.
The police after quite a delay arrested Saduddin Malik on June 3rd and the five juveniles were taken into custody between June 4th and 7th. But in July last week, all five juveniles were granted bail while the key accused Saduddin Malik’s bail was rejected by the Telangana High Court.
