Now we have one more Math mastermind and he won the Mental Calculation World Championship (MCWC) at the Mind Sports Olympiad held in London this week.
He is Neelakanta Bhanu Prakash, a 20 year old youngster from Hyderabad. By winning the Gold medal at the championship, Bhanu emerged as the first Indian to achieve this rare feat. What’s incredible is this Bhanu’s first ever attempt to the MCWC and he won the title in the first attempt.
There were 30 participants from 13 countries, yet Bhanu made it. Not just the MCWC title, Bhanu’s achievements include “Fastest Human Calculation”, “Power Multiplication Record” and “The Super Subtraction Record.”
A graduate in Math from St Stephen’s College, Delhi Bhanu also owns a start-up by name Exploring Infinities (EI) and it’s aim is to train students in speed and cognitive ability development by harnessing infinite potentials of the human brain through gamified learning modules on mobile apps.
Bhanu’s ultimate goal is to build a community of mathematicians, human calculators and to change the way Math is taught. He also wants to produce mathematical geniuses from government schools in Telangana.
