Elon Musk has become a bigger sensation after he entered the Twitter office. He started firing executives and employees on a higher pay scale. Some in the crucial designations on the advertising side reportedly resigned.
If the latest reports are to be believed, Musk is on a firing spree. There were massive layoffs in India also that happened on Friday. The employees who were fired belonged to all verticals including engineers and the entire marketing and communications department. It is said that the layoff is termed a part of the global restructuring ordered by Elon Musk. It is heard that more than 100 employees were fired on Friday alone.
A part of a mail from Elon Musk to Twitter employees is going viral now. It has ‘By 9 AM PST on Friday, Nov. 4th, everyone will receive an individual email with the subject line: Your Role at Twitter.’
It also has ‘If your employment is not impacted, you will receive a notification via your Twitter email. If your employment is impacted, you will receive a notification with the next steps via your personal email. To help ensure the safety of each employee as well as Twitter systems and customer data, our offices will be temporarily closed and all badge access will be suspended. If you are in an office or on your way to an office, please return home. ‘
Elon Musk started firing CEO Parag Agrawal among other top executives. Musk also announced plans to charge $8 a month for a verified account. Elon Musk is looking to lay off around 3700 Twitter staff to slash costs and impose a demanding new work ethic.
The employees of Twitter expressed their frustration about the layoffs on the social network using the hashtag #OneTeam. A class action lawsuit was filed on Thursday against Twitter by its employees who argue the company was conducting mass layoffs without giving the required 60-day advance notice, in violation of federal and California law.
