An Indian-origin man drove his Tesla car off a cliff with his wife and two children inside. All of them survived the act and were rescued, and sent to a hospital. Dharmesh A Patel of Pasadena in California intentionally did this and once he is released from the hospital he will be sent to San Mateo County Jail.
Dharmesh Patel and his family were rescued on Monday at Devil’s Slide in San Mateo Country. A helicopter crew rescued the adults from the vehicle while the firefighters got down the cliff to save the children, a 7-year-old girl, and a 4-year-old boy.
It is being described as one of the very rare situations where all of them survived with moderate injuries even after falling from a cliff 250 to 300 feet down. The children in car seats were saved by the seat belts, the cops believe.
Authorities plan to charge Mr. Patel with three counts of attempted murder and two counts of child abuse.
