Nepal Plane Crash: 72 People Died

In a shocking development, we learned that a passenger plane carrying 68 people, including four crew members, tragically crashed in Nepal’s Pokhara just before landing. The aircraft went down between the old airport and the Pokhara International Airport. Soon after the crash, the authorities immediately began relief activities.

The airport authority reported that 53 passengers were from Nepal, five from India, four from Russia, one from Ireland, two from Korea, one from Argentina, and one from France were on board.

As of now, 36 bodies have been recovered, with five Indians believed to have been killed in the crash. The plane burst into flames after the crash. The accident occurred in Pokhara, an area known for its high mountains and sudden changes in weather, which can lead to reduced visibility due to cloud cover.

Nepal government has formed a five-member commission of inquiry to probe the tragedy. Nepal PM left for Tribhuvan International Airport to get more first-hand information about the crash, and an emergency cabinet meeting has also been called.

More developments will be followed.
