IT Giant Asks Freshers To Work For Half Salary Or Wait Longer

One of the major IT companies, Wipro has asked candidates who were offered Rs 6.5 lakh per annum earlier whether they are willing to work for Rs 3.5 lakh per annum now. All these candidates have successfully completed their training.

The company’s email to the candidates mentions the new compensation offer. It also says that if the candidate choose to accept this offer, all previous offers will stand void. However, the canduidates can also refuse to take this offer and instead continue to hold on to their original offer.

In the email it says, ‘Like others in our industry, we continue to assess global economies and customer needs, which factor in our hiring plans. Currently we have project engineers’ roles available for recruitments with an annual compensation of Rs 3.5 lakh. However, we cannot commit to a date of joining as our hiring plans are being determined based on the prevailing economic environment and evolving customer needs.’

According to Wipro, the company claims to be working on honouring all outstanding offers made, but this current offer creates an immediate opportunity for candidates to start their careers.

The candidates were given the option to accept the offer by February 20. The majority of the candidates appear to have accepted the offer. This offer was made to all of Wipro’s candidates under the Velocity graduates category in the FY23 batch.
