Shops, restaurants, and cafes in Hyderabad , are now allowed to operate 24 hours a day, following the state government’s modification of the opening and closing hour rules.
The move, aimed at boosting nightlife in the region, was welcomed by those whose daytime routines do not allow them to explore the city’s offerings. T
he modification is expected to have a significant impact on the city, as the current laws have led to illegalities, where food joints would stay open on the sly.
Although the move is expected to boost the restaurant business, operational costs are also expected to increase. The Labor department has issued guidelines for employees’ welfare in these establishments, including overtime wages, consent for women to work at night, transportation for women employees, and weekly working hours.
