Musk’s SpaceX Starship Explodes On Launch Attempt

Elon Musk’s SpaceX Starship exploded midair minutes after it launched in Texas. It is the most powerful rocket ever constructed. No one was on board the rocket.

SpaceX Starship was a test project for a grand project of sending astronauts to Mars. The uncrewed test flight is a two-stage rocket ship that is taller than the Statue of Liberty. It blasted off from the company’s Starbase spaceport east of Brownsville, Texas.

Less than four minutes into the flight, the Starship failed to separate the upper stage from the lower stage Super Heavy. It was seen flipping end over end before exploding.

Elon Musk tweeted the pictures and videos of the Starship launch and congratulated the company. He also said the team learned a lot in preparation for its next launch.

The stainless steel Starship has 33 engines and 16.7 million pounds of thrust. The Starship could lift as much as 250 tons and accommodate 100 people on a trip to Mars. The test flight was supposed to last 11/2 hours and fall short of a full orbit of Earth. If the Starship reaches the three-minute mark after launch, the booster will be commanded to separate and fall into the Gulf of Mexico. It should continue eastwards, passing over the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific oceans.

The founder and Chief executive of SpaceX said on Twitter that the next Starship test launch would be in a few months.
