An Indian-origin psychiatrist in London was jailed for six years for running a website to share sensitive images of child sexual abuse. The NCA released a statement saying, ‘Officers arrested Dr. Kabir Garg at his flat in November 2022 as part of a coordinated operation with international partners at a time when the site was open on his laptop with Garg logged into his moderator account.
33-year-old Dr. Kabir Garg lived in Lewisham in Southeast London. The National Crime Agency of the UK found him as one of the operators of the website called ‘The Annex’, which had around 90,000 members. Kabir Garg was named to the Sex Offenders Register for Life.
Garg reportedly pleaded guilty in January this year to eight charges. The charges include ‘one count of facilitating the exploitation of children, three counts of making indecent images of children, three counts of making indecent images of children, and one count of possession of a prohibited image of children.
According to the reports, Adam Priestley from NCA said in a statement, ‘Garg was involved in facilitating child sexual abuse on a significant scale. He used the dark web to access a global community of pedophiles sharing and discussing horrific crimes against children. There are hundreds of thousands of members of such sites on the dark web, but few of them are prepared to commit to being a member of staff, which involves dedicating a lot of time for no payment.’
