A heart-wrenching incident unfolded as a 22-year-old woman lost her life after falling from a flyover when the two-wheeler she was riding pillion on collided with the protective barrier on the Hitec City flyover.
The unfortunate incident occurred as Sweeti Pandey, a young woman hailing from Kolkata, and her friend Ryan Luke were en route from JNTU to IKEA on a fateful Thursday evening.
The police report indicates that the mishap occurred due to the rider’s inability to control the two-wheeler at a high speed, leading to a collision with the flyover’s retaining wall. The impact was so severe that Sweeti was thrown off the flyover, sustaining critical head injuries. Ryan also suffered severe injuries in the accident.
Both victims were swiftly transported to a nearby medical facility for immediate attention. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Sweeti succumbed to her injuries during the course of treatment. Ryan’s condition remains critical and under medical observation.
In response to this tragic incident, the Madhapur police have initiated legal proceedings. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including sections 337 and 304 (A), pertaining to negligent and rash driving. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
As the community mourns the loss of a young life, the police have taken the necessary steps, including transferring Sweeti’s body to Osmania General Hospital for a thorough autopsy. The incident serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of road safety and responsible driving to prevent such heartrending accidents.
