New York City is facing major flooding and Flash flood warnings have been issued in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island, and Long Island.

Heavy rains in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut caused the flooding. New York Governor Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency.

Central Park has recorded more than 5 inches of rainfall and Brooklyn has 6 inches of rain. New York City Mayor Eric Adams suggested there could be 8 inches of rain before the day is over and asked people to stay at home.

A travel advisory had been issued in New York City. Subway services are extremely limited and Amtrak conveyed customers to be prepared for delays on trains in and out of New York City.

All flights to New York City’s LaGuardia Airport have been put on hold due to heavy rain. The rain is expected to slow down by Friday night but showers may still be there on Saturday morning.
