A student in Hyderabad took her own life, and preliminary investigations suggest a possible connection to the indefinite postponement of the Group II DSC (teacher recruitment) exams. This unfortunate incident has triggered huge protests, raising concerns about the mental and emotional toll on students caused by sudden exam schedule alterations.
The student, identified as Pravalika and hailing from Warangal, was discovered lifeless in her hostel room at Brindavan hostel, situated in Ashok Nagar. The postponed Group II DSC exams, initially scheduled from November 20 to 30, were delayed due to the impending Telangana Assembly elections on November 30, a decision made by the state government.
The news of Pravalika’s tragic demise has resonated deeply within the student community, shedding light on the immense pressure and uncertainty that students endure during exam-related disruptions. The abrupt rescheduling of exams can significantly impact the mental well-being and academic focus of students, and this incident underscores the need for effective communication and support during challenging times.
Following the announcement of exam postponement, a press release from the Director of School Education assured that revised exam dates would be communicated in due course. However, the sudden loss of a young life has led to widespread protests, as students express their discontent and anguish over the government’s decision.
During the investigation at the hostel, police officials encountered resistance from protesting students while attempting to remove the deceased student’s body. As tensions rise, authorities have heightened security around the hostel to maintain order and safety amidst the ongoing investigations.
