IPL 2020: RCB Pulls Of A Thrilling Super Over Win

Another day and we witnessed another thriller in IPL. In less than 10 days of its start, we have seen second super over match of the season. This time, it was between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Mumbai chased down the total of 201 in 20 overs and ended the match in a tie. They managed to score only 7 runs in the super over. RCB chased it in the last ball.

MI’s skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl. The decision turned good for Royal Challengers Bangalore. They got a very good start from their openers Aaron Finch (53) and Devdutt Paddikal (54). They looked in red hot form and kept on smacking boundaries all the time. Finch scored at a faster rate and finished his half-century soon.

MI needed Trent Boult to break this partnership. They got another strike in no time when Rahul Chahal dismissed Virat Kohli. But, then came AB de Villiers (55) who kept the scoreboard going. Devdutt Padikkal got out after scoring a half-century. Later, de Villiers and Shivam Dube took charge of the things and ended the innings by scoring 201/3 in 20 overs.

Mumbai got big blows while chasing this total. Their opener Rohit Sharma got out in the second over. In the very next over, Isuru Udana dismissed Surya Kumar Yadav for a duck. Right after the powerplay, Chahal sent Quinton de Kock to the pavilion. Ishan Kishan (99) and Hardik Pandya tried to keep Mumbai in the chase for a while. But Adam Zampa broke them apart by getting Pandya out.

Ishan Kishan and Pollard (60) took charge from that point. They made 119 runs partnership and almost took Mumbai to the shores of victory. But tight bowling by RCB in the last two overs made the match a tie. However, Mumbai managed to score 89 runs in the last five overs. RCB will next take on Rajasthan Royals on October 3 and MI will face Sunrisers Hyderabad on October 4.
