Former India cricket captain Kapil Dev revealed that he was not invited to the World Cup final held in Ahmedabad between hosts India and Australia. Kapil, who captained the Indian team to its historic maiden ODI World Cup title in 1983, expressed his desire to attend the game alongside his former teammates.
“I wasn’t invited there. They didn’t call me, so I did not go. As simple as that. I wanted the whole ’83 team to be there with me, but I guess due to the fact that it’s such a big event and people are so busy handling responsibilities, sometimes they forget,” Kapil told the media.
Kapil Dev played a pivotal role in India’s cricket history by leading the team to its first World Cup victory in 1983, defeating a formidable West Indies side in a memorable low-scoring encounter.
Despite his significant contribution to Indian cricket, Kapil Dev’s exclusion from the event has disappointed both him and fans who had hoped to see the legendary captain at the prestigious match.
