IPL 2020: CSK Loses Third Game In A Row

This season is turning out to be a nightmare for Chennai Super Kings as they faced three consecutive losses in their first four matches. Sunrisers Hyderabad won against CSK by 7 runs and sealed their second win of the season. It was Priyam Garg and Abhishek Sharma who shined for SRH. The bowlers have managed well to restrict CSK and never handed over the game to the opponents. Though Jadeja and Dhoni tried hard, they weren’t able to take their team off the mark and managed to score a total of 157/5 while chasing 165.

David Warner’s decision of batting first after winning the toss didn’t give him an ideal start as Jonny Bairstow got bowled right in the first over by Deepak Chahar (2/31). The first-down batsman Manish Pandey looked in good touch but Shardul Thakur dismissed him in the 8th over.

Warner and Kane Williamson had a huge task to do after the loss of early wickets. In the 11th over bowled by Piyush Chawla, Warner tried to flex his arms and went for a big hit. However, Faf du Plessis took a stunning catch at the boundary and sent Warner back to the pavilion. In the very same over, Williamson got run out due to a miscommunication with Priyam Garg (51*). The latter rectified that mistake big time by playing sensational innings later on. He got good support from Abhishek Sharma (31). Both of them helped SRH to achieve a formidable total. Thanks to their 77-run partnership and Garg’s classy half-century, SRH ended its innings with a score of 164/5.

It was not a huge total considering the deep batting lineup of CSK. SRH needed some early wickets and they got them as they wanted. They have managed to take three wickets in the powerplay and put Chennai in trouble. Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu and Faf du Plessis fell within six overs. SRH took no time to send Kedhar Jadhav to the pavilion as well. Then, captain Dhoni (47*) and Ravindra Jadeja (50) played it slowly and tried to keep Chennai in the game.

However, the required rate was rising up and high with the completion of every over. In the last four overs, Chennai needed 78 runs to win. Jadeja fought hard and scored a half-century but was caught by Abdul Samad in Natarajan’s bowling in the 18th over. CSK needed 28 off the last 6 balls with Dhoni on the crease. They have managed to score 20 runs and handed over a seven-run victory to SRH. Sunrisers will next face Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings will take on Kings XI Punjab on October 4.
