IPL 2020: DC’s All-Round Effort Helps Them to Win on RCB

Published by

An all-round effort from Delhi Capitals helped them win against Royal Challengers Bangalore by 59 runs. On the batting front, it was Marcus Stoinis, Rishab Pant, Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw who shined for them. On the bowling front, Rabada, Nortje, Axar Patel and Ashwin have done the job.

It was Virat Kohli who won the toss and elected to bowl first. RCB’s decision turned out to be a boon for Delhi Capitals. They got a stunning start from their openers Prithvi Shaw (42) and Shikhar Dhawan (32), who made a 68 runs partnership for the first wicket. Captain Shreyas Iyer, who played a brilliant knock in the last match, failed to do well in this one.

Delhi got a good partnership once again by Rishab Pant (37) and Marcus Stoinis (53*). Both of them entertained by hitting bix shots. Stoinis scored another unbeaten half-century in this edition. By the end of the 20 overs, DC got a very good total of 196/4.

RCB needed a good start while chasing this big total. But they failed to get it. Their main players Devdutt Padikkal, Aaron Finch and AB de Villiers went back to the pavilion in less than six overs. That put a lot of pressure on Virat Kohli (43). Moeen Ali, who was playing his first match of this season, failed to do well.

Even Kohli departed in the 14th over and made RCB fans to lose all the hopes. Rest all batsmen weren’t able to pull RCB from the clutches of a defeat. They have managed to score only 137 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Rabada scalped four wickets in this match. Delhi Capitals will next face Rajasthan Royals on October 9. Royal Challengers Bangalore will play against Chennai Super Kings on October 10.
