In a rare moment of parliamentary unity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered glowing praise to his predecessor, Manmohan Singh, lauding him as an “inspiration” to all legislators.
During a farewell to retiring members, PM Modi recalled a poignant instance when Dr. Singh, despite facing physical challenges, arrived in a wheelchair to participate in a crucial vote.
Reflecting on this moment, PM Modi remarked, “I recall Dr. Manmohan Singh’s arrival in the other House to cast his vote, despite the expected outcome favoring the treasury bench. His commitment to duty is exemplary and truly inspiring.”
Manmohan Singh, a six-time MP and India’s 13th Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, has also served as Finance Minister and Governor of the Reserve Bank of India.
