Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy has made headlines by gifting shares worth over Rs 240 crore to his four-month-old grandson, Ekagrah Rohan Murty. Ekagrah now owns 15,00,000 shares of Infosys, constituting a 0.04 percent stake in the company. This off-market transaction comes as Mr. Murthy’s own holdings in the tech giant have slightly decreased to 0.36 percent.
Ekagrah, born in November 2023 to Rohan Murthy and Aparna Krishnan, is the third grandchild of Narayana and Sudha Murty. The name ‘Ekagrah,’ inspired by Arjun’s unwavering focus in the Mahabharata, reflects the family’s values. Meanwhile, Infosys, which began with a modest investment in 1981, has grown into India’s second-largest tech company, thanks in part to Sudha Murty’s early support and Narayana Murthy’s leadership.
