US: First Woman To Be Executed In 67 Years

The US government has scheduled the first execution of a woman prisoner in 67 years. Lisa Montgomery is to be killed by lethal injection on December 8 at the Federal Correctional Complex in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Lisa Montgomery, 52, strangled a pregnant woman, cut her body open, and kidnapped her unborn baby in 2004. Lisa Montgomery becomes the first woman in the US in the last 67 years to be on death row.

Montgomery was convicted of killing Bobbie Jo Stinnett, 23 in Skidmore, Missouri, on December 16, 2004. The victim was eight months pregnant and Montgomery met her in a chat room. The killer arranged to meet the victim at her home to buy a puppy but killed her instead.

Montgomery used a kitchen knife to cut the victim’s abdomen. The victim got her consciousness and during the struggle after that ended in Montgomery strangling her to death. Montgomery kidnapped the victim’s kids and attempted to pass it off as her own baby. The child is now 16 years old.

Montgomery confessed to killing and was convicted in 2007. The jury in the trial unanimously recommended a death sentence, which the court imposed. Montgomery is scheduled to be executed on December 8, 2020.

Another Execution

Brandon Bernard was found guilty of two counts of murder along with many other offenses. The trial recommended the death sentence unanimously. Bernard is scheduled to be executed by lethal injection on December 10, 2020, at US Penitentiary Terre Haute, Indiana. One of his accomplices Christopher Vialva was executed on September 22, 2020.

Brandon Bernard and his accomplices murdered two youth ministers, on a military reservation in 1999. Todd Bagley and Stacie Bagley were the victims. After Todd agreed to give a ride to several of Bernard’s accomplices, they pointed a gun at him and forced Todd and Stacie into the car trunk. The killer and accomplices tried to rob the couple Todd and Stacie, but eventually shot them both in the head. Todd was killed and Stacie turned unconscious. Bernard lit the car on fire killing Stacie with smoke Inhalation.
