IPL 2020: Ruturaj Gaikwad Sets Up A New Record In IPL

Chennai Super Kings have thrashed Kings XI Punjab the other day and kicked the latter from the tournament. Chennai already got eliminated from the playoff race. With this match, even Punjab went out of the race. Punjab posted a total of 153/6 in 20 overs while batting first. Chennai managed to chase it in 18.5 overs by losing just one wicket.

The man who shined for Chennai in this chase is the youngster Ruturaj Gaikwad. His unbeaten 62 runs have helped CSK in scoring 154 with an over and ball to spare. This is his third consecutive half-century of the season. With this feat, he became the first uncapped Indian to hit three back-to-back fifties in IPL. Interestingly, Chennai won all the matches in which Ruturaj scored a half-century.

Ruturaj started off slowly and gave a good stand to his opening partner Faf du Plessis. Both of them made a partnership of 82 runs for the first wicket. When du Plessis got out, he took over the charge and started playing attacking cricket. He got good support from Ambati Rayudu. Both of them made a partnership of 72 runs and gave CSK a massive victory. Speaking about his form, Ruturaj thanked CSK management for sticking by him for a long time which helped him to gain confidence.
