The World Health Organisation (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has gone into self-quarantine after he came in contact with a person who later was tested positive of Covid-19. Tedros added that he is well and has no symptoms.
Taking to his Twitter Tedros wrote, “I have been identified as a contact of someone who has tested positive for #COVID19. I am well and without symptoms but will self-quarantine over the coming days, in line with @WHO protocols, and work from home.”
Further Tedros tweeted, “It is critically important that we all comply with health guidance. This is how we will break chains of #COVID19 transmission, suppress the virus, and protect health systems. My @WHO colleagues and I will continue to engage with partners in solidarity to save lives and protect the vulnerable. Together!”
Meanwhile India has added 45,230 new infections in the last 24 hours and the total tally of cases went up to 82,29,313. The total active cases, discharged and deaths are 5,61,908, 75,44,798 and 1,22,607 respectively.
